Wangari Maathai Honored at 40th NAACP Image Awards

Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Wangari Muta Maathai was honored with the Chairman’s Award along with former Vice President Al Gore at the 40th NAACP Image Awards for the work they do for the environment.

 Dr. Wangari Maathai’s acceptance speech was full of grace and eloquence at the 40th NAACP Image Awards where she was honored with the Chairman’s Award.

Dr. Wangari is the only African woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize.  She has been a champion for the environment for a very long time, before going green was even thought of.

She is a champion for Africa on not only the environment but also democracy, human rights, and issues affecting African women.
